Laurel Ridge Health Care Center was recognized by the Alzheimer’s Association on Feb. 26 for its commitment to the Walk to End Alzheimer’s and memory care during an awards ceremony in Westport.

The health care center was a Regional Silver Sponsor of the association and main food sponsor last year. Laurel Ridge has partnered with the association for the walk for more than five years and will continue to be part of the steering committee in the future, said Bonnie Leavy-Mello of Laurel Ridge.

Alzheimer’s disease is part of a growing epidemic and is now the nation’s sixth-leading cause of death, and the association relies on donations to support its many programs throughout the year.

“Laurel Ridge is proud to be partnering with the association again and with families, caregivers, businesses, and other organizations to raise awareness about disease that causes memory loss,” said Leavy-Mello.

Walk teams are currently being formed by visiting alz.org. For more information about Laurel Ridge and its memory care unit, call 203-438-8226.
