Of songwriter Krista Detor’s work, Rolling Stone says, “A small miracle…” The Boston Herald says, simply, “All songwriters should be this good..”

Ms. Detor’s solo albums have reached international prominence, including number one on the Euro-Americana Chart, and placement in the top 10 of the U.S. Folk and Independent Music charts. She has performed with such notable artists as Suzanne Vega, Joan Armatrading, The Neville Brothers, Louden Wainwright, Sam Phillips and John Gorka. Her choral works have been commissioned by the Ashland Women’s Choir, the Shrewsbury Community Choir, the Cincinnati Women’s Choir, and others.

Ms. Detor will be performing for The Acoustic Celebration on Sunday, March 23, at 4 at 46 Peaceable Street in Ridgefield. Tickets are available online at acousticcelebration.org.

Ms. Detor’s latest album, Flat Earth Diary, was released January 2014.

Ms. Detor lives in Bloomington, Ind., with her family, her dogs, cat and six chickens, and is a musician, songwriter, performer, and seeker of inspiration wherever and whenever she can find it.

Tom Pacheco

Tom Pacheco

Tom Pacheco

Tom Pacheco is a prolific songwriter, a poet who in his early years was influenced by the writers of the Beat Generation — Allen Ginsberg, William Burroughs and Jack Kerouac.

Mr. Pacheco will be performing in Ridgefield on Sunday, March 30, at the Acoustic Celebration at 4. Tickets available $20 in advance at acousticcelebration.org. Remaining tickets at the door of 46 Peaceable Street, Temple Shearith Israel, $25.

At one point in his career Mr. Pacheco recorded two albums for RCA and was offered a writing contract with a major publisher in Nashville. But Mr. Pacheco knew he was too much of a non-conformist and iconoclast to write songs for anyone other than himself. Pacheco writes and sings about subjects that interest him or cause him concern and is unafraid to express his views forcefully.

Notwithstanding his self-perception, Pacheco’s songs have been covered by Jefferson Starship, the Band, Rick Danko, Ritchie Havens, Scott Petito and Leslie Ruler, John Hall and dozens of European artists, many becoming number one hits in England and Norway. His albums have sold well in Europe. One became platinum in the mid 90s.

Mr. Pacheco played folk rock in Greenwich Village, N.Y., in the late 60s and alternative country in Austin, Texas, in the early 80s. He spent 10 years in Dublin Ireland, recording and touring extensively in Europe. He now lives in Woodstock, N.Y., and tours both America and Europe. He is admired by critics, fellow performers and perceptive music lovers who have bought the imported copies of many of his albums. Check him out on YouTube or at tompacheco.com.

On Sunday, April 6, at 4, a concert will be held in the North Hall of St. Stephen’s Church featuring one band new to Ridgefield and one longtime favorite artist.

Debuting in our neck of the woods is The Carper Family, a band whose music hits the ear with both depth and simplicity, capturing the essence of true country music. The Austin-based trio of Melissa Carper (upright bass), Beth Chrisman (fiddle), and Jenn Miori (guitar) applies their signature, stunning three-part harmonies to bluegrass, old-time, country and swing tunes of the standard and original variety, pushing and honoring American musical traditions at every step.

The band’s debut studio album Back When was named Best Country Album for the 2012 Independent Music Awards.

Also featured at this special Acoustic Celebration concert is one of Nashville’s most prominent Americana voices, Amy Speace, whose most recent CD was featured on NPR. Each act will perform one long set in this magic-filled afternoon.

Tickets are $20 at acousticcelebration.org. Should there be tickets remaining, they will be $25 at the door, 351 Main Street.
