Delany sisters’ first 100 years

Ridgefield Library and Keeler Tavern Museum will present the M&M Production, Having Our Say, The Delany Sisters’ First 100 Years by Emily Mann, adapted from the book, Having Our Say by Sarah L. Delany and A. Elizabeth Delany with Amy Hill Hearth and based on the extraordinary and long lives of the Delany sisters.

This program celebrates National Women’s Month and will take place on Sunday, March 23, at 2, at Keeler Tavern Museum Garden House.

The play opens as 103-year-old Sadie and 101-year-old Bessie welcome the audience into into their Mount Vernon, N.Y., home and cover the last hundred years of our nation’s history, recounting a series of events and anecdotes drawn from their family history and careers as pioneering African-American professionals.

The Delany sisters will be portrayed by actresses Donna D. James and Leslie Smithey, under the direction of Melinda O’Brien.
