Five students from Ridgefield High School have been selected for the Connecticut Music Educators Association All-State Music Festival Tuesday to Saturday, April 3 to 5, at The Bushnell in Hartford.

Senior Adam Rayfield and sophomore Emily Kerr will perform in the All-State Orchestra; senior Ryan Konopka and freshman Briana LoCicero in the All-State Band; and sophomore Michael Shofi in the All-State Choir.

Each student is a member of at least one Ridgefield High School music ensemble under the direction of Joyce Flanagan or Michael McNamara, including concert choir, jazz band, concert band, marching band, and symphonic orchestra.

“The All-State Music Festival is the highest honor a high school musician in the state of Connecticut can achieve,” said Ms. Flanagan, chair of the Ridgefield High School Visual and Performing Arts Department. “The festival is a collaboration of the top youth musicians in the state, who must pass rigorous auditions to participate first in their regional festival and then in the All-State Festival. Ridgefield High School has many talented musicians, and we are proud to have our school represented by the five selected for All-State. These young people devote a lot of time and work to their musical efforts, and it really shows.”
