Susan Rachel Pfeffer, daughter of Christine (Rodier) and Stanley Pfeffer of Miami, Fla., and Ridgefield, was married to Ryan Gary Knox, son of Andrea (Sollecito) and R. Gary Knox of Ridgefield, on Dec. 29, 2013.
Notary Melissa Brail, a friend of the family, officiated the ceremony at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Coral Gables, Fla.
The bride wore a dress of lace and chiffon. She carried a bouquet of pale pink roses, white hydrangeas, stephanotis, and ivy replicated from a photo of the bouquet made by her grandmother, Marywade Rodier, the founder and original owner of Rodier Flower Shop. The groom’s niece Leah, the flower girl, wore a pink sequin dress and carried a nosegay of pink roses and matching pink butterflies. Both fathers of the bridal couple carried the wedding rings. The mothers shared a reading of a poem by E.E. Cummings, “I carry your heart with me (I carry it in.”
Additional family members attending were Susan’s sisters, Cheryl and Jessica; Uncle Ira Pfeffer and girlfriend Judye Bernstein; cousin Caroline Pfeffer and son David; Ryan’s sister Laura and brother-in-law Jake Cascioli; nieces Anna and Leah; and nephew Jacob and friends Melissa, Nevin and Sasha Brail.
After a reception at Seasons 52 in Coral Gables, the couple had a short honeymoon at the Biltmore Hotel, also in Coral Gables. They plan to honeymoon in Hawaii in the spring.
Susan has a master of fine arts degree in theater, contemporary performance, from Naropa University in Boulder, Colo. She is employed at the University of Nevada in Reno as an assistant professor of theater.
Ryan graduated with a doctorate in hydrology from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Mass. He is employed at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in Berkeley, Calif.
A party for friends and family is scheduled in Ridgefield at the end of July.
